Care that supports your mental health and your daily life
Mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and others, can make everyday tasks feel overwhelming. Getting out of bed, preparing meals, keeping the home tidy, and staying connected with others can all become significant challenges.
Our mental health support service will provide compassionate, non-judgmental care at home. This means practical help with daily tasks combined with steady, warm companionship. Our carers will be trained to understand mental health conditions and to provide support in a way that respects your dignity, your pace, and your choices.
This service is currently in development as part of our CQC registration expansion. Register your interest and we will contact you as soon as it launches.

People living with mental health conditions are far more likely to experience physical health problems too. Poor nutrition, disrupted sleep, and social withdrawal all compound over time.
A trusted, familiar carer who visits regularly can provide structure, routine, and connection. These three things significantly improve outcomes for people managing mental health conditions.
For communities where mental health is not openly discussed, including many Arabic and Somali families, a bilingual carer who understands cultural context can make all the difference.
What our mental health support will include
Our service will be built around the person, not the diagnosis. Practical, compassionate, and genuinely helpful.
Compassionate companionship
A warm, non-judgmental presence. Someone to talk to, to sit with, and to provide gentle encouragement without pressure.
Daily routine support
Helping to establish and maintain a daily structure including waking, meals, medication, and activities. Structure is fundamental to mental health recovery and stability.
Nutrition and meal support
Preparing nutritious meals and gently encouraging regular eating. Particularly important during periods of low mood when appetite and self-care often decline.
Medication reminders
Supporting adherence to prescribed medication. This is one of the most important and commonly missed aspects of managing mental health conditions at home.
Outings and social engagement
Gently supporting you to get outside, attend appointments, and maintain social connections. Reducing isolation is one of the biggest factors in improving mental health outcomes.
Family and carer coordination
Keeping family members informed and working alongside any existing mental health professionals or community psychiatric nurses involved in your care.
Culturally sensitive care
Bilingual carers who understand cultural attitudes towards mental health, particularly within Arabic and Somali communities, to provide support that feels familiar and respectful.
Safe home environment
Light domestic support to keep the home clean and comfortable. A calm, organised environment makes a real difference to mental wellbeing.
Care without judgement, in a language you understand
Mental health carries stigma in many communities, and that stigma can prevent people from seeking the support they need. At Alvaran Care, we believe that mental health is health. We approach every person with the same dignity, compassion, and professionalism we bring to all our care services.
Our bilingual carers are drawn from Birmingham’s diverse communities. For families where mental health is not easily discussed in English, or where cultural context shapes how support is received, having a carer who speaks your language and understands your background is not a luxury. It is essential.
